Reception staff unfriendly, no soap in bathroom had to ask for some, no coffee in room had to ask, only 1 set of towels in bathroom told reception and was told thee is a 2nd set in wardrobe (of course!) The bed was so uncomfortable you could feel the springs/wires in the mattress which led to the worst nights sleep we have ever had. We would never stay there again.

    Good

    Staff friendly and helpful.

Lack of parking The hotel was too hot and unable to turn heating off in room

The location was excellent for our needs.

The state of rooms was shocking, furniture was in a very poor condition, ripped upholstery, damaged drawers, & the beds were so uncomfortable as they had spring coming through plus every time you tried to find a comfortable position they creaked!!! The docor was outdated & the windows were falling out. Also in the reception area there was a table covered by a cloth & underneath it were 3 full serving bowls of food that had been there from the night before. Some of the staff were very rude & unhelpful. Would we stay again?? Definately not!!! It isn't a patch on it's sister hotel The Scarisbrick Hotel. As former Southport residents it is our opinion that the Prince Of Wales has gone down thr pan.. Sadly it certainly isn't the hotel that we remember.

    Exceptional

For the price it deserves a 9/10. I can only say that we were lucky that the occupents next room were quiet after 10pm otherwise it may have been different, dividing wall is not too well soundproofed. Also the heating in the bathroom was out of order; consequently in out as fast as you could..

    Fabulous

large room for a very good price

There was always a group of smokers at the narrow entrance which was inconvinient

    Fabulous

Good price, good room and good breakfast in the morning.

We were quite concerned when we arrivedd as the hotel reception was unfriendly, impolite and quite frankly off putting. Lack of information in the room about how to switch on the Televsion (it was a big rugby match) and a faulty telephone required revisiting the reception which was again abrupt and somewhat unfriendly. This improved later when there had been a change of staff.

    Very good

The meals were terrific as was the location.

The reception was inadequate for the size of facility, staff did not acknowledge I was there or even say 'I'm sorry I wont keep you waiting long' and didnt seem to have a straight answer for anything - happy hour, how to pay for meals, when the papers were coming - bit of a farce really!

Didn't get to stay at this hotel due to maintence work so was transferred to there sister hotel "Scarisbrick Hotel".

Arrived early afternoon to Prince Of Wales Hotel to be informed there was maintence problems with a number of rooms& therefore we were to be moved to there sister hotel "Scarisbrick". On arrival to Scarisbrick we checked in at there very run down reception area where staff were happy to talk amongst themselves and generally not very professional in there appearance or attitude. The room we stayed in was 320 it was a shabby family room and unknown to me at the time above a club which I later discovered as it kept me awake till 3am on a Monday night!! I would of asked to be moved only my sons had some how fallen asleep. Breakfast was servered upto 9:30am but after waiting 30mins to be seated and no sign of it either I checked out, angry, tired& basically dishearted with Southport! Whats this got to do with Prince Of Wales, well I don't believe for one moment that there was maintence problems.. I'd be very wary of cheap deals at Prince Of Wales as if you end up the same situation as I did a single mum with 2 young sons you will be very disgusted& disappointed with the way in which you are treated.. Hotel should be closed down!

    Location was very good

The hotel was very tired looking, in need of a good revamp!!!!!!!! Our room if you can call it a room!!!! number 134 we think should not of been a room, because it was at the back of the lift shaft and the stairs, so you could hear the lift going up and down all night and you could hear the peoples voices and foot steps on the stairs all night. worse room ever stayed in. To us a good hotel is a place you can get a good nights sleep, tihs was the oposite!!!!! would not go back again, explained ourselves to reception and all the lady said was oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not interested at all.

    Very good

Location, hotel generally, room, welcoming coal fire. Despite the 2 dislikes we would revisit the hotel and are considering booking your sister hotel in Liverpool.

Dripping shower (which was reported first day which got worse). Dirty crockery in dining room (which we swopped ourselves on first morning). We were not the only guests who did this and a lot were actually "smelling" the cups! Although being only couple in dining room on second morning and outnumbered by staff we had to physically stand and present used plates which prompted staff to attend who had been previously chatting to each other in order to make space for further crockery. Although check-out was not until 10 am room staff came to "do" the room at 9 am which prompted us to leave early!
